What do Manny Pacquiao, Sarah Geronimo, Willie Revillame, Leandro Baldemor and me have in common? We all appeared in Ms. Erlinda Rapadas’ column “Teka Nga!” in the country’s widely read tabloid, Bulgar! hehehe! I’m surprised by the billing especially that photos are a rarity in Bulgar! Thank you Tita Erlinda and Edgar! =)
Last Jan. 21, 2012, yours truly was featured in The Daily Tribune under Edgar O. Cruz’s Buzz-Station! Title header says “Dinagyang through a Filmmaker’s eyes”.
My photo featuring Dinagyang 2010 Champion Tribu Paghidaet was also featured. Yay! Thank you so much Edgar and Tribune! =)
Happy Birthday, Ma’am Boots Anson Roa! More blessings to a former boss (NCCA Cinema Program), mentor and hopefully collaborator (soon, God willing!). Your grace, candor, kindness, leadership by example and a whole lot more will always be remembered. God bless you more! =)

“J Edgar” is a quiet, thoughtful and very sensitive portrayal of FBI’s first chief. Filmmaker Clint Eastwood, showing versatility and maturity as in all his works, delivers a film that will make us ponder of the angels around us and the love other have shared all throughout. There are people who will be selfless for us. They should be remembered.
Though snubbed by the Oscars, for me this is Di Caprio’s best role (in bravura make-up). He deserves a nomination together with Naomi Watts and Armie Hammer (Social Network). Many Filipinos will - to their loss - miss seeing this pic on the big screen. If you are reading this, you should not be one of them.
You know someday, somehow…I had to do my share. hehehe. =P

Two wonderful and pretty students of St. Robert’s International Academy (where I screened my films at last Dinagyang 2012 week) flash the new (right) and old (left) designs of my calling card. =)
My recipe: Peppered Tender Pata with Basil and Lemon Grass. Yumyum!
Remember, they might not like your art and films, but they’ll surely love your cooking! hahaha! =P
Not really a movie for the awards but a very intense action film like no other. It is not a wonder though because the director is no other than Steven Soderbergh. Watch and enjoy! =)
Even the major film critics agree with a 67% positive score!
Fianlly, a nomination for the always neglected Gary Oldman (for Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy)! A surprise nomination for Demián Bichir (A Better Life) - this one I wasn’t able to predict!. And snubs for Michael Fassbender (Shame), Michael Shannon (Take Shelter), Ryan Gosling (Drive), Tilda Swinton (We Need to Talk About Kevin) and Albert Brooks (Drive). Check complete Oscar Nomination list and analysis…
De Ja Vu in Dinagyang 2012! Tribu Buntatalan-on gave a splendid performance (which prompted me to rank them 5th in my personal choices), pushing Ilonganon to 6th place. I really loved their dance and they gave the most warrior-like performance. But their costume is not new and this was a disappointment. I wanted to say this on-air during the Bombo Radyo coverage but I waited ‘til I got back here in Manila and checked my old files. I hope re-using costumes won’t be allowed by the Dinagyang organizers. I love this tribe but please design something new if you wanna join again next year. The photos do not lie.
The only new thing added the costumes were the mini-coconut husks positioned in front of the warriors’ private parts (the same style used many times by Tribu Taga-Jaro which wais led by Anthony Purtugalete, the same choreographer of this year’s Buntatalan-on).

Finally, an official jpeg from no less than Picture Perfect’s very talented graphic artist. Madami akong natanggap na jpeg pero shot ng newspaper. So now we have one for the sharing. Thank you so much for this Oteph. =)
