Dear Manny,

We love you so much and we are proud of you. But you see, sports - just like anything else in this world - needs FOCUS. If you plan to go into showbiz and politics, please retire in boxing. If you want to continue fighting, please drop everything else. You have been given two lessons already. My heart will bleed to see the world’s best fighter lose again.

love,
Jayvee

p.s. Congratulations Juan Manuel Marquez. ‘twas a short but good fight.

To my current favorite personality (dahil utang pa namin buhay namin sa mga kagaya mong walang kadala-dala at super defensive to death), here’s something you will never ever get AGAIN: from American humorist Erma Bombeck…

“Guilt: the gift that keeps on giving. “

In tagalog….

“Guilty ka dapat. Kaso kami na ang magsorry dahil sa tindi ng kakapalan mo, pati ang mga di pa pinapanganak eh may utang na sa ‘yo.”

I digress.

Why on earth are you guys scheduling wonderful activities when I’m shooting outside Manila? Grrrr!!!! hahahaha! So sad to miss three big upcoming events including a fashion shoot which I’m supposed to do for a magazine; a screening where I’m supposed to couple with a lecture; and a PR event by the Junior Public Relations Practitioners of the Philippines where I was initially invited to be one of the reactors to Mr. Boy Abunda’s talk. *SIGH!* If only there’s two me. hehehe!

I hope there’s a next time pa. I’m shooting two new documentaries so my hands are so tied until December. I’m very excited to shoot. It’s the third docu I’m doing this year. All praise to The Supreme Filmmaker! =)

“In life, we get to make decisions and we get to have second chances. There are decisions we regret but have accepted the way things went as a result because they were the best options during those times. A few decisions merited second chances. Some decisions were not as lucky and have stayed final. Nevertheless, what is essential (I believe) is the fact that good things remain in our hearts and that whatever happens, we are happy to be there for the people we’ve genuinely valued. Feelings for these people make us human and real whether those we value realize it or not because a heart who loved truly will always remain steadfast”

I miss our food in Siaya, ZaNorte! I miss Dipolog and Dapitan! I miss kapatid na Riya; Kuya Sunnie and his yumyum cooking; Engr. Ian; Loen (because she left us early on for her topic defense); Ma’am Belen; Ma’am Leilani (I’m now eating your Montaño’s Sardines pasalubong that’s why I suddenly missed everyone! Yum!); Palm Garden Hotel and their wonderful staff; the people of Siaya; and the Buklog rituals. I enjoyed my shooting trip so much that I miss the company of these wonderful friends. =)

“With all due respect, that’s a bunch of malarkey” and “So now you’re John Kennedy?” - US VP Joe Biden to Republican VP candidate Paul Ryan in the only VP debate before the US elections. Biden won this debate, if you ask me. But Martha Raddatz is one of the best debate moderators I’ve seen in recent memory.

I’m excited for the shoot of the short film “Astray” this weekend because I will be seeing two of my good friends: filmmaker Nerissa (NP Picadizo) and Angel (Aquino) whom I will be acting with for the said film. Good luck sa ‘kin. hehehehe! This photo was taken in 2008 by Marj Romero when I directed Angel for the music video by the international bossa nova duo, Swan Dive

Come to think of this…..

If the security guards of your office, school or institution do not know how to respect senior professors and high-ranking officials who have been with the school or institution for more than 10 years, how much more students and contractual employees?

If the guards look for all the reasons in the world to justify their rudeness, disrespect and abuse, why are we being s

ubjected to this kind of attitude when we are the ones paying for their salaries? They should be fired! Employees and students do not deserve bullies, power-trippers, incompetent guards.

Bad deeds continue to happen if you, students and employees, stay silent. It is time.

Remember, remember, the Fifth of November!
