THE PLM-CMC FILM FESTIVAL 2012 ::: SHORT FILM FESTIVAL 20121. The Short Film Competition is open to all enrolled Mass Communication students taking up MCM 161-3 (Film Production and Direction) of the PLM College of Mass Communication. Theevent will be open to all members of the PLM community (students, faculty, administrators, staff and parents), as well as cast, crew, family and members of the students, and other outside visitors.2. Entry Format - All short films should be narrative, shot in the digital format and must have a total running time not shorter than five (5) minutes and must not exceed seven (7) minutes, including all credits. English subtitles are required.3. Content – No themes and required genres. No censorship. Justified and non-gratuitous use and portrayal of violence, nudity, use of alcohol, tobacco and drugs will be allowed. A rating system shall be employed by the organizing committee to ensure that content will be appropriate for the audience present in the screening venue.4. Use of copyrighted works - All still and moving images, music, sound effects or other cinematic elements must be original and/or licensed for use in the specific entries. Supporting documentation must be made available to the organizing committee for verification purposes if required by circumstance. The organizers shall not be liable for any criminal or civil liabilities arising out of the unlicensed use of copyrighted materials.5. Limited liability - Upon submission of the required materials on the set deadline, it is no longer the responsibility or liability of the organizers to ensure that all submitted materials for screening, judging and competition are compatible and in good working order. No complaints shall be entertained regarding any technical defects or issues on submitted material after the receipt by the organizing committee. In addition, all materials submitted on the deadline are deemed as the final cuts of the films. No replacements shall be allowed after the set deadline for whatever cause or reason.6. Pre-screening, Nomination and Judging - Nominations will be made to the awards categories by the respective professors (Prof. Gina Lumauig and Prof. Elvert de la Cruz Bañares) of the competing classes. A three-man panel shall be appointed by the organizers to judge the nominated entries, from which the results will be tallied and winners in particular categories will be selected. All decisions by the judging and organizing committee are final. Final results are final and not subject to complaints, appeals or questions. 7. Awards Categories - The following are the awards that will be given out during the competition:- Best Short Film- Best Director- Best Screenplay- Best Cinematography- Best Editing- Best Production Design- Best Sound Design- Best Original Musical Score and/or Music Direction- Best Performance by an Actor in a Lead Role- Best Performance by an Actress in a Lead Role- Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role- Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role- PLM Spirit Award8. Audience Choice Award - In addition to the regular awards, the audience choice award will also be given, as selected by a vote made by the audience and tallied on the day of the event.9.
